We have had a great first two days of Grade 1! Please check mailbags tonight for two notes.
The first is information from the office that needs to be double checked, signed and then returned asap. The other is information about the Remind app, which I will be using to send out reminders and any information you might need throughout the year. The instructions are all on the sheet. Thanks and enjoy the rest of this hot day! Welcome to Grade 1! My name is Ms Julie Gorman and I am excited to get to know each of you and your wonderful children. We are going to have a great year and I can’t wait to get started.
This week we will be focusing on getting to know each other, learning our classroom and school routines and developing a fantastic learning environment. I ask that you speak with your child to see how their day was and please feel free to contact me with any concerns or issues. Your child will be bringing home a mail bag with a communication book to help facilitate a line of communication between your home and the school. I will open the communication book to any note that I have written so that it is easy to find and I ask that you do the same thing. The mail bag will also be where I’ll send home any notices from the school or paperwork that needs to be filled out. Should you need to contact me please feel free to write a note and I will get back to you as soon as possible. In addition to the communication book I will also be sending out notifications through an app called Remind . I will be sending home a note the first week of school which will provide you with information for how you are able to sign up for notifications from my classroom. I will also direct you to my website (ms-gs-classroom.weebly.com) which will be updated with important information as well as a monthly newsletter to let you know about what has been going on in the classroom. I encourage you to check it regularly. For this school year I ask that you send with your child a pair of running shoes with non-marking soles. These will be their indoor shoes and the shoes they will use for physical education. Please send a large ziplock bag with a labelled, full change of clothes that can remain at school. Lastly, I also ask that you please send in a labelled pair of over ear headphones (earbuds slip out of little ears) to use while your child is working with technology. Our school supplies will be used by our entire classroom community and therefore students are not required to supply their own. However if you would like to donate anything to our classroom community (kleenex and ziplock bags of various sizes are always appreciated) they will be put to good use! St. James encourages all students to bring “litterless” lunches to school. Anything that cannot be recycled or composted will be returned back home in your child’s lunch bag. All lunch items are asked to be NUT FREE due to life-threatening allergies. Finally, please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason. I am always happy to speak on the phone or find a time to meet. |
