The Season of Advent is quickly approaching and we have been planning some fun activities for the students during this time. The first is that the students will be participating in the school's musical by singing a song. We will be singing "Welcome Christmas" from the movie How The Grinch Stole Christmas. It would be appreciated if the students could practice at home. There are a variety of versions on youTube that you can use but here is one with the music and the lyrics that we will be using in class (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjiJvOKPfxA). We also thought it would be fun for the students to dress up as Whos for the show. You DO NOT need to buy anything for this costume. Simply use what they already have in their wardrobe.
Second, we will be beginning to learn about money and in the spirit of giving we have decided that the two Grade 1 classes will do a secret Santa exchange. So that the students can explore money they will be earning "classroom money" by doing acts of kindness, showing manners, cooperating and working hard to be able to "buy" their secret Santa person a present. We are asking for donations of gently used toys and books for this activity. Please take a look around and if there are 2-3 toys or books that perhaps are no longer being used we would love to have them donated to our "Classroom Store". Any additional toys we have will be donated to a Grade 1 classroom with students who would also benefit from a Secret Santa exchange within their own classroom. Thank you for your support for this fun and exciting activity. Next, for our Christmas Hampers I will write the items we ask your child to donate in the communication books on Friday. More information about this project was sent out in the weekly memo yesterday.
